What is Style?

I have never been a trend starter. I have never cared too much about name brands.  As an adult, I care a little more because the brand names let me know what fit my figure best.  It is hard to dress as a Christian these days, so I am more of a mix and match girl with layers.  Since moving to Bolivia,
my style has become even more casual.  It has mostly been hot since I got here eight months ago.  So my every day attire has been tank top and jeans.  When I am at work, I may wear sleeveless, but usually t-shirts. I want to make sure that I am conservative.  I try to watch how the other ladies dress, but I can't mimic them because they wear jackets and long sleeved shirts year round.

It still amazes me that I get away with wearing t-shirts and flip flops to work.  I would not get away with that in any job I can think of in the US.  I look at the kids and feel that I am very vain. They usually wear the same outfit all week.  It kind of makes me self-conscience about having so many clothes.  The funny thing is that in the US, I might be self-conscience about how little of a variety or amount that I have.  Life is funny that way.

I also sometimes laugh to myself about the style here.  You find men wearing women's tops.  We have not decided if they know that they are women's or if they just like how tight they are.   The since of style is very vibrant and nothing has to match.  People don't even seem to care if it is material that matches.  In general, things are casual here, but you do find people who dress like they are models.  Also, when it comes to weddings, they typically dress like it is a cotillion or something fancy (not as fancy as prom).  I have decided that style is what you make of it as long as you dressed to bring glory to God.

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? "  MATTHEW 6:26-26
