Atypical Thursday

33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.  Luke 21:33-35

I woke up today with a plan.  Get up, do my devotional, yoga, get ready for school, go to school, write letters, go to work, come home, paint, have Angelica come over for cafĂ©, go to bed.  The first part went according to plan, but the rest fell away when I went to school.  It is one of the things that I love about Cochabamba.  I have a general normal life, but there are various things that makes your plans just disappear.  It really emphasizes that we should make plans because God doesn't expect us to just sit there and wait for things to happen.  However, hold your plans loosely and allow God to do His thing.
When I get to school I found out that there is a major blockade just a block away from my house.  I cant walk to work, so I changed my plans.  Tomorrow I was going to go to the "bookstore" to get stationary stuff to finish writing letters that wont even be mailed until June.  (I say "bookstore" because here most bookstores are supply stores.  They have very few books if any, but it reminds me when I was a creative child and wrote short stories and did all sorts of creative things.)

The joy for me is that I got to watch for the first time how a peaceful protest works here.  There was no tear gas or any violence, but if a trufi tried to drive by with passenger the people would take off the truffi number and tease them for not joining in the strike. To me it was like watching children have a free day from school run around yelling innocently at each other.  I could not help but laugh to myself.  No one noticed me, so I was free to just enjoy the view.  Today is not what I expected, but it is a pleasant surprise.
