It was such a beautiful place with incredibly interesting history. It is amazing to me when people who seem so powerful all of a sudden basically disappear. In the old testament you hear about it and how it came about. In Peru, you learn about how entire villages just disappear into the jungle with no real explanation.
I also really love Cusco. The city is so beautiful with a lot of Inca heritage still intact. I needed this vacation. God showed me that I am better at Spanish than I believed I was. My friend, Anne, basically had as much Spanish that I had in my first month here. I felt compelled to help her as much as I could and other English speaking people. It was also nice to get some much needed rest. People don't realize that the first year or so living in a new country requires a lot of adjustments that take a lot out of you mentally. I did not at least. I assumed that after six months or so that it would all come naturally. It is amazing how God shows you who you really are and forces you to realize your limitations in various ways.
11 "as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity[a] and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace. 13 For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that," 2 Corinthians 1:11-13
