Conference 2016

The annual conference is required for all field missionaries to attend.  When I was in the states, I was really looking forward to it.  It is a time to meet all the missionaries in your country.  It is supposed to be a time of rest and refreshment.  However, the nine months I have been here have been difficult with language and cultural learning.  I also have had colds and many stomach issues.  I am always so happy when I get a package with pepto in it.
I went very reluctantly.  I was tired and spending a week with a lot of people is not my idea of relaxation.  I did enjoy meeting new missionaries and hearing about their ministries.  I enjoyed getting to know some better.  My favorite night was when we played uno hearts.  It took hearts to a whole new level.  By the way, I love card games.  I never seem to get bored with them.
It was a good conference and we got to discuss things that affect our ministries all together.  However, the whole thing was in Spanish.  I love learning Spanish and I like being able to communicate, but church is still difficult for me and that is just an hour or so.  I tend to go off to daydream world because I get tired.  Just imagine five days of that.  I had a head ache every night and to be honest, I didn't pay attention to probably 90%.

It was good, but if I had had a choice, I would have stayed home and actually rested.  Also, since the conference last week I have had another birthday.  It is no longer a big deal, but my friends made me feel special and a got a great birthday package from my family.  I was overjoyed to be able to talk with my family on a conference skype call and see my nephew.  I am so biased, but he is the best thing in the whole world.  My heart could burst with love for him.

29 "I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.30 I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. 31 Pray that I may be kept safe from the unbelievers in Judea and that the contribution I take to Jerusalem may be favorably received by the Lord’s people there,"  Romans 15:29-31
