Dad's Birthday

     Yesterday was the last birthday that I will spend with my dad for a while and it was very special to me.  Last week we found out that he has a staph infection in his knuckle.  It is crazy how strong and feeble our bodies are.  He was at work two weeks ago and nicked his knuckle while tearing apart furnature,  I week later his hand was so swollen that he couldn't hardly move his fingers.  I mean really, who would stop working or complain about such a minor little thing?  Who would guess that it would turn a person's world upside down.  You have to know my dad.  He is such a manly man and extremely independent.  (Which is where I believe I get that trait from.)  He now is going every day for treatments for another 30-60 days.
      Yesterday however, we did not discuss it.  We celebrated in the format that he wanted.  We ate Mexican and didn't tell anyone at the restaurant that it was his birthday.  He doesn't appreciate having people sing to him.  Then we went as a family to get ice cream.  My personal favorite part was that he wore my t-shirt, so it felt like he was supporting me and understands why I am moving away.  That may be true and it may not, but I was very happy and so was he.
I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
Psalm 34:1-3
